Halloween is the spookiest season of the year in Lithgow, attracting crowds to join in the celebration. Don’t miss any of the festivities, entertainment, and fun, which take place every year on the night of the Last Saturday in October! The largest Halloween trick or treat and street parade in Australia, blocking off the entire Lithgow Main Street inviting everyone to come and join the thrilling fun that awaits them.
From 3pm to 9pm, Main Street is lined with an incredible range of food vendors offering an excellent selection that are guaranteed to tickle your taste buds. Spend the evening surrounded by live entertainment and a range of fun activities for the whole family. Have the scare of a lifetime in the ‘haunted fun house’ or take a thrilling trip on one of the numerous rides offered, including, of course, the Ghost Train. Celebrate the season of tricks and treats and get involved with the competitions on offer, such as “dress to impress” for children, and the short film competition for the adults.
The Lithgow Tourism and Events team and SF3, for the third year, are holding the Smartphone film competition at this year’s event. The film competition requires a short, suspenseful horror short film of up to a maximum of 10 minutes duration, to be shot on a mobile phone or tablet. The films are judged in 4 category areas; ‘Most Creative’, ‘Best Performance’ and ‘Best Youth Film’. There is also a ‘People’s Choice’ award and great prizes are on offer. The film competition finalist films will be available for viewing on social media at the Lithgow Tourism and Events website www.tourism.lithgow.com/halloween/ where people will be able to cast their votes.
