Bernie Werder on the right was the very first guest at Black Gold Motel (known as Black Gold Cabins at this time). Bernie and his mate Ernie, used to rent “Peacock” in its very humble beginnings and quickly became friends.
Bernie & Ernie gave us confidence that we could make a go of the hospitality industry even when the task seemed rather daunting.
